Suba elders at the Akamba Peace Museum

Suba and Akamba elders at the Akamba peace museum

The Abasuba Museum has initiated an exchange programme whereby members of the the Abasuba council of elders visit other communities throughout Kenya, and vice versa. This programme has been instrumental in promoting the diversity of African cultures, and encouraging respect for the cultural values of other communities – thereby promoting peace and understanding.

Turkana exchange

Members of the Turkana community on a visit to Suba

Through financial and technical assistance from TARA, members of the Turkana community were able to visit Suba and learn about the museum's activities, and how they can also improve their rock art sites. Through this programme, the museum has worked with the Kamba, Kikuyu and Turkana communities.
